ATEX Machinery
At Karmelle, we understand the critical importance of safety in potentially explosive atmospheres. That’s why we offer a dedicated range of ATEX-compliant machinery, designed and engineered to meet the highest standards of operational safety without compromising on performance.
What Is ATEX?
“ATEX” refers to two EU directives that specify the minimum safety requirements for workplaces and equipment used in explosive atmospheres. In these environments, where gases, vapours or combustible dusts may be present, even a small spark can have catastrophic consequences.
ATEX compliance is not just a legal requirement—it’s essential for protecting people, facilities, and operations. That’s why Karmelle takes a proactive approach to ATEX safety, integrating compliance into the very foundation of our machinery.
Karmelle specialises in ATEX-rated filling line equipment, carefully designed to minimise the risk of ignition in hazardous areas. From mechanical design to electrical engineering, every element is built with safety in mind.
Key Features of Karmelle’s ATEX Machinery:
Electrically Safe by Design
-All electrical components (motors, wiring, sensors, and controls) are fully ATEX compliant.
-Electrical control panels are mounted outside of ATEX-zoned areas for added safety.
-Any electrical connections entering zoned areas operate on low voltage (8.2Vtz) systems to prevent sparking.
-Namur sensors used in our systems lack the energy to generate an ignition source.
-Only ATEX-rated cables are used throughout our machinery.
Spark-Proof Mechanical Design
Our equipment is built around a spark-proof philosophy to reduce static or friction that could trigger ignition:
-Belt slats on conveyors are designed to reduce friction and prevent heat build-up.
-The entire machine framework is earth bonded back to the main electrical control panel.
-All flow meters used are ATEX-certified, ensuring consistent safety in fluid measurement.
Karmelle’s ATEX filling lines are built around a single, guiding principle: To offer robust, reliable filling solutions without compromising on safety.
We don’t just meet ATEX standards—we design our machinery from the ground up with intrinsic safety features, giving our customers peace of mind when operating in volatile environments.
At Karmelle, we believe that safety is non-negotiable, and our commitment to providing ATEX-compliant machinery reflects our dedication to protecting your business and its employees in hazardous environments.
