When it comes to labelling equipment, versatility is often high on a company’s list of requirements. It was certainly a priority for one of our newest customers, a British supplier of chemical cleaning products.
The market-leading company asked Karmelle to design equipment capable of labelling rectangular and cylindrical bottles. In addition to improving efficiency, it was keen to achieve high-levels of accuracy, as its 1 litre cylindrical containers needed to look consistent on the shelf.
After discussing the project, team Karmelle designed and manufactured a Front, Back and Three-Point Wraparound labelling machine, complete with bottle orientation and registration sensor. The pneumatically operated system would be integrated with the customer’s existing capping machine, receiving bottles via a conveyor before applying plastic or paper labels and transferring them to a packing station.
To ensure accuracy and consistency, the labelling machine was fitted with a state-of-the-art mechanical sensor. This enabled it to apply labels in registration with a notch on the base of each 1 litre cylindrical bottle.
It was also designed to handle a selection of round and rectangular containers, which did not need to be labelled in registration, and could be processed at higher speeds.
The bespoke labelling machine was installed and commissioned by Karmelle’s team at the beginning of December.
